Conceived as a hilltop sanctuary in Goa, the Marian Shrine is rooted in a sensitive dialogue with its natural setting. Anchored by an existing Gulmohar tree, the project employs a first-of-its-kind exposed laterite Gothic vault in Goa, a load-bearing structure. Rising 19 feet, the structure frames a handcrafted marble statue, creating a powerful contrast of material and texture. Water, light, and landscape are choreographed to foster contemplation, transforming the shrine into a timeless spiritual and cultural landmark.
